***SWIM TEAM CALENDAR LINK***
Memorial Day is fast approaching, and with it comes the summer swim season! Below is some information regarding the 2016 Cherry Valley Tigers swim season. If you haven't done so already, please register for the team (we need to have an official registration for insurance purposes) by completing both sides of the attached form.
As you know, we have had some changes to our coaching staff.
Our head coach will be Emily Singley, who has been an assistant at Kingston for the last three years and is employed as a fourth-grade teacher in Haddonfield Public Schools
Our assistant coach is Katie Reilly, who has coached at Raccoon Valley (a Suburban League summer swim team) and recently graduated from TCNJ with a degree in secondary education.
Rounding our coaching staff as the 8 and under and Learn to Swim coach is Theresa Layman. Coach Theresa has been working with our youngest and newest team members for nearly a decade!
Our daily afternoon practices will begin on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 after school according to the following:
Middle and High School Students (mostly 12 and over): 3:45 until 4:45.
Elementary School Students (mostly 9, 10, and 11): 4:45 until 5:45.
8 and unders: 5:45 until 6:30
Swimmers should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start of practice so they are ready to swim at the noted time.
Please have your child ready to swim at practice (bathing suit, goggles, swim cap, etc). Additionally, please have your swimmer bring sneakers and appropriate clothing for "dryland" exercises (which may occur if the weather or pool water is cooler).
Beginning Monday, June 20, 2016, we will start our morning practice schedule. Following will be the practice times for the remainder of the season (as noted above, swimmers should plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time).
8 and unders -- 8:30-9:30
9-10, 11-12 -- 9:30- 10:30
13-14, 15-18 -- 10:30- 11:45
Also starting Monday, June 20 afternoon practices will be held Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30 until 6:30. These practices are for swimmers of any age who are unable to attend the morning sessions.
Our first "A" meet is on Saturday, June 25 at Downs Farm Swim Club. The meet starts at 9 a.m.
Our first "B" meet is on Wednesday, June 29 at Covered Bridge Swim Club. The meet starts at 6 p.m.
Prior to the first meet, we have tentatively scheduled a time trial meet on the morning of Saturday, June 18. Details will be sent as the date approaches.
It takes roughly 35 volunteers to make an A meet run successfully. From manning the snack bar to timing, working the scoring table, or officiating the meet, the entire swim team community is active and involved. Like last year, I have put together electronic sign-up sheets, the links to which can be found at the bottom of each email I send. Additionally for those who are unsure of the different tasks, I have put together a document describing the various volunteer roles needed to run the meet. This document can also be viewed by following the link at the bottom of this email.
Our new team suit will be the Tyr Viper. Team suits can be purchased through Swim Outlet by following the link below. For each purchase of a suit (or other swimming equipment), Swim Outlet will return a percentage of the cost back to the club. Please use this link to access Cherry Valley's section of Swim Outlet's site and to order your team suit! The link is:
For those who prefer the traditional shopping route, our suits can also be purchased in person at Danzeisen and Quigley (D&Q, located on Route 70 in Cherry Hill).
Finally, there is a swim team calendar linked below. I try my best to keep the calendar updated with swim team activities (from meets and practices to pep rallies and other team events). As with the other documents described above, this calendar will be linked at the bottom of each email I send.
I'm looking forward to a great swim season! Please feel free to forward this information to anyone who I may have missed.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. See you at the pool!
